Joe Scarbrough returned to South Boston Speedway this past Saturday for the maiden voyage of Charlie Dejarnettes’ #93 modified. The car had some issues that appeared serious during Fridays test and tune but Car owner Charlie Dejarnette and Crew Chief Aubrey Epperson kept digging until Joe found himself in a machine capable of a 3rd place finish.
“It started off rocky on Friday. We had some sort of an ignition issue and never got up to speed. Things weren’t looking good but Charlie (Dejarnette) and Aubry (Epperson) burned some midnight oil and started off early Saturday morning attacking the new team woes we were facing. Saturday we were still a bit behind the 8 ball, missing the first practice. In turn that only left us with one short practice session that was even shorter due to the fact that I didn’t turn on the lap scoring transponder and got black flagged. The good news was that the misfire was gone and the engine was strong, there is room for improvement in the chassis as well. I felt the shock package needs improvement but all in all it was good enough for a 6th starting spot 3 tenths off the pole and a podium finish the first time out of the shop. Charlie and Aubrey are great guys to work with and definitely know the ins and outs of race car preparation. Im looking forward to working with this team again.”

Preparations continue for 2011 season
After a couple months off and well deserved rest. Joe and the rest of the Aftershock team have continued in getting ready for the 2011 racing season. Priding themselves in the motto "Wins begin at the shop", there have been a few changes and upgrades to the race shop. 2011 RTM Crew Chief of the Year, Mac, has his engine prep and assembly room completed to his liking, extra storage was built and a lot of housekeeping was done to make the shop a cleaner work environment with a lot more space to work with. In the never ending quest for quality help, Eric "Fudd" Bryant has joined the Aftershock crew for the upcoming season.
Soon to be announced will be Joe's projected racing schedule, so stay tuned.

Unfortunate circumstances result in less than desired finish at NWS
10/30: NORTH WILKESBORO, NC -- Having clinched the 2010 points championship, the #93 team looked to the final race of the season at the Historic North Wilkesboro Speedway as a chance to put "icing on the cake".
Unfortunately, the 60-year old track had other plans for Joe Scarbrough and team, as mechanical issues plagued the team from early on. The weekend started off bad with an engine change on Friday evening and proceeded with an underpowered, smoking car for the majority of the race. Joe ended up spinning the car in turn-2 in the later stages of the event, causing a caution and then spending some time on pit road and becoming lapped.
The silver lining of the weekend had to be that the #93 team was not the only one to suffer issues. Several other strong would-be condendor teams found themselves suffering from mechanical issues and tire wear, allowing Joe to salvage a 9th place finish. Cale Gale would go on to take the elevator ride to Victory Lane, after he was able to hold off Chris Hoylman and Trevor Edwards in the closing laps.
Though it was not the ideal way to finish the season, Aftershock Motorsports team walks away with the Championship and a pedigree of accomplishments in 2010.

Scarbrough to race at historic North Wilkesboro Speedway
Oct 27, 2010:
This weekend will mark the final race for Aftershock Motorsports on the Rolling Thunder Modified tour in 2010. The RTM mods are a headlining division during the 3 day event at North Wilkesboro Speedway, who's rich racing history goes back to earlier than 1949 when the track hosted it's first NASCAR race.
Scarbrough and his crew, who has already clinched the 2010 RTM points championship, are going out to have a great showing and with high expectations in hopes to close of such a succesful year with their 5th win. Joe has already won at 6 prestigeous mid-Atlantic area race tracks this year, 3 of which he had never stepped foot on before.
There will be a full day of testing this Friday, October 29th, and the racing begins on Saturday the 30th. If you are in the area, Joe would like to cordially invite you and your friends and family out to experience what will undoubtedly go down in history as one of the largest and greatest short track races in recent years.
